J.K. Simmons Pursues The Thrill of the Chase in Cat-and-Mouse Thriller ‘YOU CAN’T RUN FOREVER’

Lionsgate released a new U.S. trailer today for director Michelle Schumacher‘s suspenseful cat-and-mouse thriller You Can’t Run Forever, reuniting the Oscar-winning J.K. Simmons with the director after their previous collaborations on the films I’m Not Here (2017) and 3 Geezers! (2013).

Directed by Schumacher, from a script she co-wrote with Carolyn Carpenter, the film centers on Miranda (Isabelle Anaya – Donny’s Bar Mitzvah), a young woman struggling with anxiety after a past tragedy, who becomes the target of a serial killer (Simmons) in a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse through the woods. As Miranda tries to evade her murderous pursuer, she discovers an inner strength she never knew she had.

The film also stars Fernanda Urrejola (Cry Macho, Blue Miracle), Allen Leech (Downton Abbey, Bohemian Rhapsody), Graham Patrick Martin (“Major Crimes,” “Two and a Half Men”), and Olivia Simmons (Honor Student, Junk Food).

Schumacher received acclaim for her directorial debut, I’m Not Here, earning a nomination for Best Directorial Debut at the 2017 Camerimage Film Festival. She has also garnered recognition for her short films – Dr. Vanostrand won Best Black Comedy at the National Film Challenge, and The Floor was a semi-finalist in the Sundance/Sci-Fi Channel Short Film contest.

Lionsgate and Grindstone Entertainment Group present a Rubber Tree Production with Randle Schumacher, p.g.a. serving as producer.

We’ll leave you with the aforementioned trailer that is sure to leave you gasping for breath and eager to see Simmons in a role we are certainly not accustomed to seeing him take on when the film releases in theaters this May 17. 2024.
