INTERVIEW: Guillem Morales & Morgan Lloyd Malcolm Talk Twisty, Hitchcockian Psycho-Chiller ‘THE WASP’

Following its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival last June, Guillém Morales‘ (“Inside No. 9”, The Uninvited Guest) tense, twist-filled psychological thriller “The Wasp” has now received a theatrical release through Shout Studios.

Directed by Morales from a Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (“Obsession”) script which she adapted from her own 2015 play, this character-driven pyschological chiller stars Naomie Harris (No Time to Die, 28 Days Later) and Natalie Dormer (“Game of Thrones”, In Darkness) as Heather and Carla, two estranged friends who reunite over tea, only to unveil a dangerous and deceptive plot that will irrevocably alter their lives.

To mark the film’s theatrical release, CinemaChords interviewed Morales and Lloyd Malcolm about the challenge of adapting the intimate, immersive experience of live theatre for the big screen, casting the ideal lead actors to embody the emotional intensity of the original play, and recreating the taut, claustrophobic atmosphere on film to deliver a compelling cinematic experience that stayed true to the spirit of the stage production.
