Ian McShane Reaches a Vital Crossroad in His Life in New Trailer for Forthcoming Thriller ‘AMERICAN STAR’

Vertigo Releasing has debuted the new trailer for Gonzalo López-Gallego‘s (Apollo 18, Open Grave, The Hollow Point) forthcoming thriller American Star.

Directed by López-Gallego, from a script written by Nacho Faerna (The Mother, Summer at the University), who wrote the screenplay for The Ugliest Woman in the World (Méliès d’Argent 2000 at Fantasporto Festival, “Best Film” at Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival 2000), American Star, as the name implies, features an all-star cast including Golden Globe Award winner Ian McShane (The Hollow Point, Deadwood, the John Wick franchise), Fanny Ardent (The Woman Next Door, Elizabeth), Nora Arnezeder (Army of the Dead, Safe House) and Thomas Kretschmann (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Open Grave, Gran Turismo).

The films follows an assassin who arrives in Fuerteventura on his final mission to kill a man he has never met. But the target is delayed. Instead of following protocol, he stays, drawn to the island, its people and a ghostly shipwreck. When the target returns, the world has changed. Before everything was simple, now nothing is…

Lopez-Gallego describes American Star as “the story of a man at a vital crossroad. A point of no return. It’s the story of a place and time that provokes a change. A stagnant life turned upside down by a journey. A reflection on the paths we choose in life. The wrong ones and the right ones.”

The film is produced by Michael Elliott, known for Catch Me Daddy (2014) and the BAFTA-nominated Jawbone (2017).

American Stars releases in UK cinemas and digital platforms (Curzon Home Cinema, Apple TV, Amazon, Sky Store, Virgin, YouTube, Rakuten, Microsoft) this coming 23 February, 2024 and in the meantime, we’ll leave you with the aforementioned official trailer.
