Final “MONSTERS: THE LYLE AND ERIK MENENDEZ STORY” Trailer Examines the Very Nature of Monstrosity

Following the massive success of “Dahmer”, the true-crime anthology series “Monsters” from the prolific creative minds of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan is set to captivate audiences once again on Netflix with “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”, which dives into dives into the historic case that gripped the nation in the early 1990s, paving the way for a cultural obsession with the macabre world of true crime that persists to this day, and in return asks those audiences: Who are the real monsters?

Chronicling the case of the real-life brothers Lyle and Erik (played by Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch, respectively) who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez (played by Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny), “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” explores how, while the prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, the brothers claimed – and remain adamant to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole – that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

The cast also features Nathan Lane, Ari Graynor, Leslie Grossman, Dallas Roberts, Paul Adelstein, Jason Butler Harner, Enrique Murciano, Michael Gladis, and Drew Powell.

The series is written by Ryan Murphy, David McMillan, Todd Kubrak, Ian Brennan, and Reilly Smith; directed by Ian Brennan, Max Winkler, Paris Barclay, Michael Uppendahl, and Carl Franklin; and exec. produced by Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, David McMillan, Louise Shore, Carl Franklin, Javier Bardem, Paris Barclay, Michael Uppendahl, and Max Winkler.

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” launches globally on Netflix this September 19, and until then, we’ll leave you with the final trailer for the series which promises to peel back the layers of this terrifying case to examines the very nature of monstrosity.
