Exclusive Clip for Pedro Kos’ Faux-Doc Shocker ‘IN OUR BLOOD’ Ahead of Fantasia World Premiere

Firefly Theater & Films has debuted a preview clip of Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Pedro Kos‘ (Rebel Hearts, Lead Me Home) first narrative feature, the genre pic In Our Blood, ahead of its Fantasia Film Festival World Premiere.

Directed by Kos, from a script written by Mallory Westfall (“Chucky”, “Fear the Walking Dead”), this masterful blend of psychological mystery and chilling horror sees filmmaker Emily Wyland (Brittany O’Grady – “The White Lotus”, “Star”) team up with cinematographer Danny (E.J. Bonilla – “The Old Man”, The Exorcist: Believer) to shoot an intimate documentary about reuniting with Emily’s estranged mother after a decade apart. But when her mother suddenly goes missing, possibly succumbing to the addictions that first tore their family apart, Emily and Danny must piece together increasingly sinister clues to find her before it’s too late.

The cast is rounded out with Alanna Ubach (“Euphoria”), Krisha Fairchild (“Channel Zero”, Krisha), Steven Klein, and Bianca Comparato (“3%”).

This project is the first to be fully financed by Duncan Jones and Stuart Fenegan’s production company, Liberty Films, as part of their initiative to support debut feature films. Jones serves as an executive producer alongside actor Morgan Freeman and producing partner Lori McCreary. The producing team includes Aaron Kogan, Steven Klein, Gary Lucchesi, Michael McKay, and Stuart Fenegan, with Clay Tweel also credited as an executive produced.

Commenting on the film, Kos said, “It’s exciting for me to apply to a genre feature the storytelling skills I’ve honed over years making documentaries. In Our Blood has all the scary and thrilling elements of a psychological mystery, while tackling real issues of addiction, stigma, and a world that preys on our most vulnerable.”

Fantasia’s Artistic Director, Mitch Davis, describes the film as, “A perfectly calculated, slow-burn nightmare that opens with the feel of an indie doc and gradually evolves into something uniquely sinister …. Kos has crafted a found-footage styled mystery horror that lands with chilling authenticity … Sad, scary and unshakably convincing, it will linger like the ghosts of stolen futures.”

Fans of Kos’ impactful documentary work will no doubt be eager to witness how he translates his keen observational eye and empathetic storytelling approach to the realm of narrative filmmaking, offering what is sure to be a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant cinematic experience when In Our Blood makes its debut on the festival circuit. We’ll leave you with the first exclusive clip from the first-ever faux-doc thriller made by an award-winning doc team.
