Dogwoof Unveils Trailer for Searing Political Corruption Documentary ‘THE BIBI FILES’

Dogwoof has released the trailer for Jigsaw Productions‘ new documentary, The Bibi Files, directed by Alexis Bloom (Divide and Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes). The searing film, produced by Oscar winner Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side), examines high-level political corruption and the desperate measures a leader will take to evade accountability.

The filmmakers were leaked a series of incriminating, never-before-seen videos of police interrogations of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his family, his closest associates, and benefactors as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption. The leaked footage reveals a recurring pattern of extravagant gift-giving and reciprocal favours spanning the media and business sectors. The interrogation videos are interwoven with archival footage that chart the trajectory of Netanyahu’s rise to power and how his nearly 30-year tenure as Prime Minister has divided the state of Israel.

The film features interviews with a number of prominent figures, including journalists, Israeli statesmen, associates of Netanyahu, and long-standing friends of the subject. These individuals offer insights and anecdotes that collectively paint a chilling portrait of a leader who, in his pursuit of avoiding justice, has formed alliances with radical right-wing extremists. Netanyahu’s unwavering pursuit of continued tenure as Prime Minister culminated in a series of political decisions that jeopardised Israel’s security and damaged her standing as a democracy in the Middle East.

The similarities between Netanyahu’s leadership and the threats from autocrats and extremists in other major democracies are evident.

The film, which faced attempted censorship by the Israeli government during its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year, will be released in UK and Irish cinemas as well as on-demand platforms on December 13, 2024, offering audiences an unforgettable viewing experience.
