Daniel J. Phillips’ DIABOLIC Trailer Teases Disturbing FLDS Horror Rooted in True Stories

Brainstorm Media has dropped the official trailer for Diabolic, the latest horror from Daniel J. Phillips (Awoken). Co-written by Phillips with Mike Harding and Ticia Madsen, the film stars Elizabeth Cullen (Elvis), John Harlan Kim (The Little Things), and Mia Challis (Outer Banks).

Set against the backdrop of FLDS-inspired stories, Phillips has described the film as being “rooted in true accounts that emerged from cult-like practices, but it’s also very much a personal exploration of fear and folklore.” He continued, “It’s about what happens when someone seeks a cure, only to confront something much darker. We wanted to tap into that sense of unease and the unexpected.”

Diabolic premiered to strong acclaim at the Adelaide Film Festival and later screened at Monster Fest in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth, taking home the award for Best Australian Feature.

Brainstorm Media will release Diabolic in select theaters and on-demand this February 20.
