Daisy Ridley to Star in Amazon Studios/Tornante Company TV Adaptation of Tanen Jones’ “THE BETTER LIAR”

As per DEADLINE, Amazon Studios has entered into a partnership with The Tornante Company to develop the drama series “The Better Liar,” based on the eponymous novel by Tanen Jones.

Written and executive produced by Raelle Tucker (“True Blood”) and starring Daisy Ridley (Chaos Walking, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) – who also serves as Executive Producer, “The Better Liar” revolves around a woman who hires a doppelganger to cover up her sister’s death so as to lay claim to their shared inheritance. Of course, her plan ultimately backfires, uncovering a web of dangerous secrets.

Siobhan Bachman is also executive producing for The Tornante Company.

“The Better Liar” marks Ridley’s first lead role in a television series. She has also recently finished filming the noir thriller Magpie, based on a story she developed herself and has a whole host of other projects on the way including Joachim Rønning’s Young Woman and the Sea and Neil Burger’s The Marsh King’s Daughter.

Tucker has an overall deal at Amazon Studios, where she serves as showrunner on the upcoming global thriller drama “The Power”. Her previous television credits include Supernatural, True Blood, The Returned, Jessica Jones and Sacred Lies.
