‘Custom’ Trailer Teases a Provocative Cronenbergian Tale of Sex, Art, and Capitalism

Custom, the feverish debut feature from bold filmmaker Tiago Teixeira, has just dropped a new trailer — and it’s a mind-bending trip you won’t soon forget. Landing on VOD and Digital in North America and the UK this August 19th, Custom is already carving its place in the horror pantheon as a provocative and unsettling force.

If David Cronenberg and David Lynch had a twisted lovechild, it might just be Custom. Teixeira’s debut channels the uneasy body horror and surreal atmosphere of Videodrome and Eraserhead, yet Teixeira doesn’t just echo those legends — it’s a fever dream forged from Teixeira’s own unsettling vision. Critics have even hailed this movie “the most successful heir to David Cronenberg’s Videodrome,” and after watching the trailer, it’s easy to see why.

The film’s story spirals around two down-on-their-luck arthouse pornographers whose mundane grind shatters when a mysterious client offers them a staggering sum of money to perform esoteric sex rituals on tape.

The film stars Abigail Hardingham (Nina Forever), Rowan Polonski (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Brad Moore (Gloves Off), and has already earned its stripes on the festival circuit, featuring in the official selections at FrightFest, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, and Razor Reel.

We’ll leave you with the trailer, which offers what we can only describe as a glimpse through a cracked mirror into a warped universe where the twisted intersections of sex, art, and capitalism are laid bare.
