Brand-New Bangers: Noteworthy Nods 2025: Batch #17

Welcome to Noteworthy Nods, your go-to round-up of the week’s most compelling new indie releases. Every week, we dig through the digital crates – scouring streaming platforms and diving into reader recommendations – to bring you the freshest tracks playing on repeat on our office speakers.

Last week’s first batch of the year featured new tracks from The Royston Club, Weston Loney, Suede, Pulp, and Balancing Act – check out the playlist here if you missed it.

This week, the momentum continues. Leading the charge is a bruising return from Pop Will Eat Itself, who serve up ‘Bruiser’, a stomping, sample-laden industrial rocker that’s been a live set staple and now lands in fully-fledged form. The Spitfires follow suit with ‘Where Did We Go Wrong’—a soulful slice of nu-mod sincerity and a teaser for their upcoming sixth LP, MKII, due this autumn.

Scottish indie trio Vistas keep the DIY spirit alive with ‘Cut the Cord’, the title track from their upcoming fourth album—fully self-funded and set for release on 29 August. Meanwhile, The Kairos, regulars on our radar, return with the gritty, infectious ‘Squeeze’. And don’t miss Wet Leg, who drop the delightfully wry love song ‘CPR’—a sharp-tongued preview of their hotly anticipated sophomore album Moisturizer, arriving 11 July.

That’s just the tip of this week’s playlist, all of which you can enjoy to your heart’s content below.

We hope you enjoy all of the above and everything else we’ve included in this week’s essential playlist as much as we do! And as always, feel free to tweet us and let us (and, most importantly, the artists) know which tracks you’re adding to your repeat rotation.

Aside from the aforementioned track recommendations, our Noteworthy section includes weekly videocast interviews featuring musical talent we hope are either already or, about to become your new favorite artists. You can watch/rewatch all previous episodes via the video playlist (here) featuring the likes of CastShambolicsThe Howl & The HumShed SevenTurin BrakesEmbraceRed Rum ClubThe K’sThe SherlocksThe Slow Readers ClubStanleysThe NativeThe Clause, and many more.
