Just a day before the UK release of The Fifth Estate last week, WikiLeaks published the first reply Julian Assange emailed to Benedict Cumberbatch to portray his concerns that the film misleads the public with numerous inaccuracies. The letter was sent to Cumberbatch after he had reached out to contact Assange way back in January, just before principal photography was scheduled to begin.
Assange politely turns down Cumberbatch’s offer to meet up as he did not want come across as supporting a film he believes will mislead the public given the fact that Dreamworks chose the most toxic books possible to adapt the screenplay.
