Apple Original Films Releases Teaser for Wildfire Rescue Drama “The Lost Bus,” Inspired by True Events

Apple Original Films has today debuted a teaser trailer for The Lost Bus, an intense and emotional new film slated for release this fall in select theaters and on Apple TV+. Directed by Academy Award-nominee Paul Greengrass (Bloody Sunday, United 93), and inspired by true events, the movie offers a gripping portrayal of one of America’s deadliest wildfires.

At the heart of the story is a wayward school bus driver, played by Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey (The Wolf of Wall Street, Interstellar), who teams up with a committed school teacher, portrayed by Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe winner America Ferrera (Dumb Money, “Superstore”). Together, they must navigate the chaos of the wildfire to save 22 children trapped in the inferno.

Paul Greengrass, who co-wrote the screenplay alongside Brad Inglesby, shared his thoughts on the film: “The Lost Bus is the story of quiet heroism — of people coming together in the face of the unthinkable. I’m honored to have been entrusted with this story.”

The film’s narrative draws from Lizzie Johnson’s book, “Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire.” Johnson also serves as an executive producer. The story came to the screen after Jamie Lee Curtis, fascinated by a Johnson interview on NPR and her compelling book, brought the concept to Blumhouse Productions – where she holds a first-look deal.

The production team includes Brad Inglesby, Gregory Goodman, and Jason Blum for Blumhouse, with Curtis producing through Comet Pictures. Alongside McConaughey and Ferrera, the cast features Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson.
