‘Machete Kills’ World Premiere to Open Fantastic Fest 2013

This year’s Fantastic Fest has announced it will be opening with a bang with the World Premiere of Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills. The festival will be held in Austin, Texas from September 19th – 26th this year at the new Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline location.

If that news wasn’t enough to keep the punters happy the likes of Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega and Robert Rodriguez will be putting in appearances with other cast and crew members’ attendance likely to be confirmed as the festival draws closer.

Fantastic Fest Co-founder & Creative Director Tim League commented

“Every year we compile our dream targets for opening night film; MACHETE KILLS was at the top of that list. We are going to pull out all the stops to ensure Robert’s world premiere red carpet experience is literally blood red.”

In response to the announcement, Rodriguez said

“Fantastic Fest has quickly become the best place for fans to first experience the newest and coolest genre movies and blockbusters. I am honored and extremely excited for Machete Kills to have its world premiere right here in Austin and kick off Fantastic Fest.”

Along with the announcement not only was a poster for this year’s Festival released but also a brand new image from Machete Kills featuring Machete himself (Danny Trejo) alongside Shé (Michelle Rodriguez). Machete Kills will go on to be released in the US on October 4 with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
