Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones Trailer. First Thoughts

With the Saw franchise now gone, the Paranormal Activity franchise has dominated Halloween. Strangely, this year sees no Paranormal Activity movie as it has now been pushed back to 2014, replaced by the (just as scary) Bad Grandpa. However, fans of the franchise shouldn’t worry as the trailer for the spin-off Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones has been released.

Featuring a stronger religious theme, this film follows a group of teenagers who learn of a neighbour’s death. After exploring the crime scene one of them starts developing strange abilities but all have been marked by a mysterious force.

From the trailer it looks as though the filmmakers are expanding the mythology whilst introducing a Latin spin. Our first thoughts is that this slight deviation away from the current store could be exactly what the franchise needs as the storyline, for us, has become dry and somewhat boring.

Still showing all the same tropes that you would find in the Paranormal Activity franchise mixed with the superpowers of Chronicle, the trailer for The Marked Ones has certainly caught our eye and we are looking forward to seeing it in cinemas when it is finally released.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones will be released in the UK on 3rd January 2013. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.
