Dakota Johnson Stars in Sci-Fi Thriller Trudy Blue, Sales Launch at AFM 2025

Trudy Blue, a near-future sci-fi action film directed by Pixar veteran Angus MacLane and starring Dakota Johnson, is going up for international sales at this year’s American Film Market, which launches today, November 11.

According to the official plot synopsis, the film centers on an outlawed android maid who awakens in a landfill 2,000 miles from home and must journey through a foreign world to return where she belongs.

Written by Evan Twohy (Bubble & Squeak), the story follows an outlawed android maid who wakes up in a landfill 2,000 miles from home and must navigate a dramatically changed world to find her way back.

The film is produced by Saks Picture Company and TeaTime Pictures, with international sales handled by 193, a Legendary-affiliated company, and domestic rights managed by CAA Media Finance.

Director MacLane brings deep animation and storytelling experience to the project. He co-directed the billion-dollar hit Finding Dory and wrote and directed Lightyear. He also contributed to major Pixar projects, including Toy Story 4, Coco, Incredibles 2, Luca, and Turning Red, and served in animation roles on classics like Cars, Up, Wall-E, Ratatouille, and Finding Nemo.

At AFM, 193 is also representing Reenactment, directed by Grant Singer and starring Benicio del Toro, co-produced with Black Label Media. Other titles on 193’s AFM slate since its launch include Cannes releases The Toxic Avenger, Die My Love, Scandalous!, and the action thriller The Surgeon, as well as the French-language film Moulin by Laszlo Nemes.
