Christian Bale Out For Justice in ‘Out of the Furnace’ Trailer

The first trailer for Scott Cooper’s Out of the Furnace does an excellent job of teasing us the solid performances not only of leads, Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson, but also the excellent supporting cast including the likes of Casey Affleck, Sam Shepard and Zoe Saldana.

Cooper directed Out of the Furnace based on an original script he co-wrote in collaboration with Brad Ingelsby with  Pearl Jam’s track ‘Release’ cited as an inspiration so it’s more than fitting that the song is used as the trailer’s soundtrack. This is also a great showcase for the work of director of photography Masanobu Takayanagi (Warrior, The Grey) who once again pulls off the look and feel of an absorbing backdrop, this time that of a decaying factory town.

The film follows Russell Baze (Bale), a steel-mill worker whose brother Rodney (Affleck) gets caught up with a local crime ring, who he swiftly crosses the wrong way and ends up going missing. When all efforts to discover his brother’s whereabouts fail, the only option left for Baze is to take the law into his own hands, with the help of his uncle Red (Sam Shepard), to find out what really happened to his brother and serve justice.

Out of the Furnace is slated for a 29 November, 2013 release date in the UK and we’ll leave you with the aforementioned trailer:
