Scribes Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Descendants) will be sharing paper and ink and also the director’s chair for the coming of age film The Way, Way Back. The film follows teenager Duncan, played by The Killing’s Liam James, as he heads off for the summer holidays with his mother (Toni Collette) and her despicable new flame (Steve Carell), who brings his daughter Steph (Zoe Levin) in tow.
Whilst the introverted Duncan has always had a problem hitting things off with people, particularly his mother’s new boyfriend, he heads off to the Water Wizz water park where he strikes up a friendship with the manager Owen (Sam Rockwell) who brings him out of himself in these times of trouble.
The Way, Way Back is already out in the US and will be hitting UK cinemas this 28th of August. We’ll leave you with the latest UK trailer below.
