Having fought their way from the underground, The Clause stand on the cusp of a major breakthrough. Aiming to become Britain’s next significant rock ‘n’ roll band, they are poised to realize their ambitions with their eagerly awaited debut album, Victim Of A Casual Thing, set for release on October 17th.
Hailing from the UK streets, The Clause have already achieved a remarkable rise in the music scene. Garnering airplay on Radio 1 and 6 Music, securing an iTunes Rock Chart #1, performing at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, and sharing stages with notable acts such as The Reytons, DMA’s, and The Snuts, the band has proven their mettle. Now, with Victim Of A Casual Thing, they are ready to take things to the next level and broaden their reach.
Formed by schoolmates Pearce Macca (vocals/guitar), Jonny Fyffe (bass), and Niall Fennell (drums) through a mutual love of music, The Clause solidified when Pearce connected with guitarist Liam Deakin at a JAWS show. By 16, they were recording demos, with tracks like “Sixteen” and “In My Element” quickly gaining traction. Two EPs followed, fueling their rising reputation. Now, Victim Of A Casual Thing is set to unleash their long-recognised immense potential.
Victim Of A Casual Thing lays bare The Clause’s journey, a sonic map of their triumphs and setbacks, fueled by their relentless desire for something bigger. This album is for every dreamer who’s ever stared down the mundane. Imagine the timeless vibes of the ’60s colliding with ’80s grooves and the raw energy of ’90s punk, channeling the anthemic force of Sam Fender, The Killers, and The Strokes, but with a contagious pop sensibility and a disco undercurrent that will get you moving.
Pearce explains, “This record is soaked in the culture of growing up in the UK. It carries the echoes of wild nights and fragile mornings, broken relationships and faded ambitions. There’s no pretence here—just four young heads trying to make sense of it all. This is the sound of feeling lost and insignificant in a city that doesn’t slow down, and the fight to rise above it. The emotion is real, raw, and loud.
The title speaks for itself. It’s about all the ways life can quietly pull you off course without warning. Falling into jobs that were never meant to last. Flings that leave something lasting behind. Expectations shaping who we’re meant to be before we even get a say. Growing up where dreams are easy to laugh at but hard to live out. And yet, we’re right here, in our mould – and that’s okay. That’s something to be proud of. Because it’s ours. In the whirlwind of it all, maybe we don’t realise how lucky we are to be here. This record is the soundtrack of four mates growing up together, turning chaos into chords.”

Leading the charge, the band launch the album with lead single, “Nothing’s As It Seems,” (listen in the player below) a track that immediately defines the album’s raw energy. It’s a defiant, optimistic, and deeply emotional anthem from a band known for their relentless live performances. Pearce’s powerful vocals, backed by driving rhythms, raw guitars, and a synth surge, make this an undeniable statement. The core message rings out: “Don’t waste your time wishing that you were somewhere, ’cause nothing matters when you’re six foot under – so cling on to those fading hopes and dreams.”
Pearce explains the inspiration behind the song: “Feeling as if I’m drowning beneath all the noise in the town I was born and raised, ‘Nothing’s As It Seems’ emerged. Whilst everyone around me seems to have their life figured out, it narrates the turmoil of trying to cling onto expiring dreams and sticking two fingers up to the world in the wake of falling short.”
The album is now available for pre-order here, and will be released in a variety of formats: vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital download/streaming.
