The Predator Reboot has snatched Shane Black – again!

The Predator is back with a vengeance, and now it has Shane Black!

Update: Shane Black has now confirmed that his Predator film shall be an ‘inventive sequel’.

Back in 1987 Predator was an exciting vehicle for us to sit back and watch explosions and Arnie shooting things, and it also scared us with a new horrific alien creature, one which would prove to be one of the most memorable in film history. Fast track to present day and you’ll find that tit has had two lack luster sequels Predator 2 and Predators, and has also gotten itself mixed up in the Alien VS series.  The question remains, can the beast be revived in a new movie? Perhaps more importantly, should it be?

The news that Shane Black is going to be tackling the new movie is good news indeed. Black is the man behind the excellent movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and more recently has tackled projects such as Iron Man 3. We want to see a movie that is fun, action packed and has great, memorable dialogue and so we are confident that he is the right man for the job! Of course don’t forget that he was in the original movie as well (pictured below), which only goes to add to his credentials for the Predator job.

Shane BlackNow onto the question of whether this alien should be resurrected. It seems that we have a top choice for writer and director and little to nothing is known about the cast and the plot. Therefore it seems that this is going to be a typical shouting match across the internet until the film is made and released. Some people will hate the idea, others will love it… we aren’t too bothered. It seems that everything is being remade nowadays and it’s hard to care about all the franchises which are undergoing the treatment and this one has already been pretty damaged. So whilst it will be interesting to check out the movie when it opens, we are not up in arms at the news.
