After the recent news that Ong-Bak high hitter Tony Jaa had been given a role in the upcoming James Wan directed sequel Fast & Furious 7, a veteran star is now said to be all set to get back behind the wheel – none other then Kurt Russell of Death Proof and Breakdown fame. Whilst nothing has been revealed as to what role he will take on, it has been revealed that he the role was first intended for Denzel Washington, so we are guessing it’s fairly pivotal in nature.
Universal are still intent on wrapping the film in Los Angeles as soon as possible so as to keep to the July 11th, 2014 slated release date. This tight schedule was in fact a major factor as to why director Justin Lin pulled out as he didn’t think he would be able to pull it off in such a short space of time. All we know is that if the film is anything close to Wan’s Death Sentence then fans of the franchise can look forward to next year’s Summer blockbuster.
Russell most recently completed filming The Art of the Steal directed by Jonathan Sobol which follows a “third-rate motorcycle daredevil and part-time art thief” who attempt to pull off a heist. The 62-year-young actor is also set to star alongside Jennifer Carpenter, Peter Sarsgaard and Timothy Olyphant in Bone Tomahawk, a horror western which follows a group of men in the Wild West as they set out to rescue a group of captives from cave dwellers with cannibalistic insincts.
