Kiefer Sutherland (“24,” Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, The Lost Boys, Young Guns) and Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, Pitch Perfect, JoJo Rabbit) have signed on for Tinsel Town, a new Christmas comedy currently in production. The film, being developed by Sky and Future Artists Entertainment (FAE), is currently being filmed on location across the North of England and at Leeds’ Versa Studios.
In Tinsel Town, Sutherland plays Bradley Mack, a Hollywood action star whose career is thrown into uncertainty when his popular franchise is suddenly cancelled. With his professional life in freefall, Bradley heads to England hoping to reinvent himself on the West End. But his agent has different plans, sending him instead to star in a local production of Cinderella in a small, snow-covered village. As Bradley fumbles through rehearsals with a quirky cast of local actors, he finds an unexpected connection with Jill, the no-nonsense choreographer played by Rebel Wilson. What starts as a professional disaster slowly transforms into a story of second chances, new friendships, and a touch of holiday magic.
The script for Tinsel Town was written by Frazer Flintham, Adam Brown, and Piers Ashworth, with additional material by Jake Brunger. Chris Foggin (Bank of Dave) is helming the project. The film is produced by Matt Williams and Pascal Degove at FAE, with Julia Stuart, Laura Grange, Piers Tempest, and Martin Owen serving as executive producers.
Julia Stuart, Director of Original Film at Sky, shared her excitement for the film: “We are thrilled to bring this fun and heartwarming story to Sky Cinema this Christmas. It’s a feel-good comedy with plenty of laughs, and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
Matt Williams of Future Artists Entertainment echoed the excitement, saying, “I’m so happy to be working with such a talented cast and crew. Tinsel Town has all the ingredients of a Christmas classic, and I can’t wait for audiences to see it.”
Sutherland, excited to return to the UK for the project, said, “I’m looking forward to working with Chris Foggin and this wonderful cast. It’s been a great experience so far, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
Wilson, known for her humor and candidness, added, “I love British Christmas films – back in Australia, we’re all at the beach! It’s great to be here, freezing my butt off but having a blast in the process.”
Tinsel Town was commissioned and developed by Sky in partnership with Future Artists Entertainment. Mister Smith Entertainment will be handling worldwide sales at the European Film Market.
The film will be available to watch on Sky Cinema this Christmas 2025.
In other news, Sutherland will be performing live at BBC Maida Vale as part of Radio 2’s Piano Room Month on 11th February 2025 at 11 am UK time. This marks the actor’s first time playing with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and fans will be able to hear him perform three songs during the live session.
For those in the North of England, keep an eye out for Sutherland, who’s been known to indulge in one of his favorite treats—a Greggs sausage roll. He swears the savory snack helps “lubricate his vocal cords”—and who are we to argue with a Hollywood action star? As he films Tinsel Town, you might just spot him grabbing a bite to eat at a Greggs!
