ITV has debuted the official trailer for its forthcoming psychological thriller “Playing Nice,” adapted from the bestselling eponymous novel by British thriller author JP Delaney and set to premiere on ITV1 and ITVX in January 2025.
The highly anticipated 4×60′ limited series stars an impressive cast, including BAFTA-nominated James Norton (“Happy Valley”, A Little Life), Niamh Algar (“Mary and George”, “The Virtues”), Olivier-nominated James McArdle (“Sexy Beast”, “Mare of Easttown”), and BIFA-nominated Jessica Brown Findlay (“The Flatshare”, “Downton Abbey”). The TX date for the series is Sunday 5th January at 9pm on ITV and ITVX. Episodes will air every Sunday and Monday at 9pm on ITV and drop as a boxset on ITVX from 5th January.
Adapted for the screen by Grace Ofori-Attah (“Boiling Point”, “Malpractice”), who also serves as executive producer, and directed by Kate Hewitt, “Playing Nice” is based on a shocking premise that will give rise to a tense exploration of trust, deception, and family: two couples living in the picturesque Cornish countryside discover that their toddlers were switched at birth in a hospital mix-up. Faced with the horrifying dilemma of whether to keep the children they’ve raised or reclaim their biological child, their lives spiral into a nightmare of uncertainty and moral conflict.
As Pete (Norton) and Maddie (Algar) are thrust into the world of the other couple, Miles (McArdle) and Lucy (Brown Findlay), the four initially agree on a solution. However, tensions quickly rise as hidden motives emerge. The families’ trust in each other, and even in their own children, is put to the ultimate test. As Pete and Maddie struggle to maintain their bond, they realize they are willing to do whatever it takes to preserve the family they have built.
“Playing Nice” is produced by STUDIOCANAL with RABBIT TRACK PICTURES, the production company founded by Norton and co-founder and Managing Director, Kitty Kaletsky (Rogue Agent).
