INTERVIEW: The ‘KOKO’ Mojo, According to Lottery Winners’ Thom Rylance Prior to Fourth Album Release

Leigh’s very own Lottery Winners are all set to release their fourth studio album, KOKO, on Friday, March 21st, 2025. The album is packed with uplifting anthems and introspective melodies—tracks that will have you dancing and singing along, and perhaps even shedding a cathartic tear.

The band’s last album, Anxiety Replacement Therapy, which topped the charts in May 2023, really marked the payoff in the form of ’15-year overnight success.’ It helped them claim their spot alongside other British indie pop legends like Pulp and Elbow, proving that sticking with it and putting in the work really does pay off in the end.

This quartet—Thom on vocals and guitar, Katie Lloyd on bass and vocals, Rob Lally on guitar, and Joe Singleton on drums—earned that No. 1 spot the old-school way: pure talent and a ton of hard work. They beat out big names like The National, Nines, and Jessie Ware, proving just how loyal their fanbase is—fans who’ve always known that Lottery Winners are one of the most entertaining and hardworking bands in the UK.

To celebrate the release of KOKO this Friday—which we’re confident will be another chart-topping hit—CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman caught up with the ever-charismatic Thom Rylance during their biggest headline European tour to date. In the exclusive video interview below, Thom opens up about the cathartic power their music offers, both for the band and their dedicated fans. He also shares the serendipitous story behind landing the coveted support slot on Robbie Williams’ massive UK and EU arena tour this summer. Plus, Thom reveals that the cameos on KOKO are far from token appearances; they’re genuine collaborations that allowed the band to discover a perfect creative synergy with each featured artist.
