Kill Your Darlings (6 December)

darlings
Kill Your Darlings is essential December viewing primarily because of the cast; more specifically Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHann. The cast as a whole is receiving some really excellent praise consistently across reviews, and it’s proving interesting to track Radcliffe as he sets out a path for himself that’s both challenging and varied. DeHann is the really big draw though as he is, in our opinion, one of the best young actors around, turning in great performances in projects such as The Place Beyond the Pines and In Treatment.
The other really big draw to this film is the time period in which it takes place, and the historical people within it. We are going to see big names such as Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg brought to the screen in a vibrant way, but what makes it all the more interesting is that the film is setting the action around a murder that brings together these important poets of the generation. This is an exciting time period to film, with a lot of culturally significant moments which could make for an exciting, fresh and unusual take on such a topic. Hopefully it will feel considerably more alive and energetic than last year’s On the Road did!
