Welcome to Noteworthy Nods, our weekly roundup where we spotlight the freshest and most exciting indie music singles released over the last few days. Each week, we bring you a curated selection of tracks we’ve discovered on streaming platforms or that have been recommended by our dedicated readers. Whether it’s an emerging artist or a hidden gem, our goal is to showcase the best of what’s new in the indie music scene. Tune in every week to discover the sounds that deserve your attention.
Last week’s first batch of the year featured new tracks from The Lemonheads, The Clause, The K’s, and Coach Party – check out the playlist here if you missed it.
This week, we’re excited to share a new single from The Royston Club (our interview here), guaranteed to have you hitting ‘pre-order’ on their sophomore album, Songs For The Spine, due August 8th. Also on our radar: ‘Meltdown’ from Weston Loney, who, despite the single’s cover artwork, is clearly not clowning around. Suede makes a welcome return with ‘Disintegrate,’ the first harbinger from their forthcoming studio album, Antidepressants, due out March 28. We’re also eagerly awaiting Pulp’s very-long-time-coming studio LP More (coming June 6), and if their latest swirling, disco-infused single ‘Got To Have Her Love’ is any indication, it’ll be on repeat in every household this Summer. Also, Balancing Act is back with their first new material since a creative retreat in the French countryside. Their new single mixes dreamy bedroom pop with big, arena-ready sounds, and vocalist Kai Roberts says it’s like “the Pokémon effect,” where the little yellow guy gets “a bit more weird and gnarly looking” as they level up.
We hope you enjoy all of the above and everything else we’ve included in this week’s essential playlist as much as we do! And as always, feel free to tweet us and let us (and, most importantly, the artists) know which tracks you’re adding to your repeat rotation.
Aside from the aforementioned track recommendations, our Noteworthy section includes weekly videocast interviews featuring musical talent we hope are either already or, about to become your new favorite artists.
