Apple TV+ has announced the star-studded ensemble cast for its highly anticipated new thriller “The Dispatcher,” a six-episode series set to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Joining previously announced Gotham Award winner Patrick Brammall (“Colin from Accounts,” “Evil”), who takes the lead role, are BAFTA Award nominee Maxine Peake (“Say Nothing,” “Black Mirror”), Brendan Cowell (“Dune: Prophecy,” “Plum”), Daniel Henshall (Mickey 17, How to Make Gravy), Jessica Wren (“Mr. Inbetween,” “Return to Devil’s Playground”), Zahra Newman (Thirteen Lives, Addition), and newcomer Chloe Geisker.
The series will be directed and executive produced by Christian Schwochow, an Emmy Award-nominated filmmaker whose credits include “The Crown,” “Bad Banks,” and “Munich – The Edge of War.”
Adapted from the CWA John Creasey Dagger-winning novel by Ryan David Jahn, “The Dispatcher” is written by Kris Mrksa (“Requiem,” “No Escape, “White House Farm”). The story centers around Ian Hunt (played by Brammall), a police detective whose life was shattered ten years ago when his young daughter Maggie mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, Ian has never let go of the belief that Maggie is still alive. His world is turned upside down when he receives a distress call from a young girl he is certain is his daughter. Driven by an unrelenting need to reunite his fractured family, Ian will stop at nothing to find Maggie.
Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Australia, “The Dispatcher” explores themes of loss, hope, and the lengths a father will go to for his child. The series is executive produced by Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta of 60Forty Films, with Schwochow, Mrksa, and Joanna Werner from Werner Film Productions also serving as executive producers.
With its compelling premise, talented cast, and expert direction, “The Dispatcher” is shaping up to be yet another thrilling addition to Apple TV+’s lineup. If you’re a fan of intense, high-stakes drama, this is definitely one you won’t want to miss.
